Types Of Genital Warts

Before you know genital warts types you should know exactly what genital warts are. Often considered to be their own type is venereal warts which are the same as genital warts and aren’t their own genital warts types. All genital warts types are contracted through sexual contact. They can be spread by direct, skin-to-skin contact during vaginal, anal or oral sex if one person is infected. In rare cases genital warts types can be transmitted to infants by their mothers during birth. The main difference in genital warts types come from the certain types of human papillomavirus or HPV that cause the genital warts. There are certain types of HPV which will cause warts on the hands and feet, but these will not cause genital warts as well. Genital warts are one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the world. Scientists estimate that about six million new cases are diagnosed in the United States each year.

Genital warts typically affect the moist tissue areas of the genital area. They typically appear as small, flesh-colored bumps that can change to a cauliflower-like appearance if they are left untreated. Genital warts can range in size from one to two millimeters in diameter or to large sizes if they multiply into large clusters. In some cases genital warts have been known to disappear on their own.

For women genital warts typically affect the vulva, the walls of the vagina, the area between the external genitals and the anus and the neck of the uterus. For men genital warts can be found on the tip or shaft of the penis, the scrotum or the anus. If people have oral sex with an infected person then genital warts can also develop in the mouth or throat.

Human are infected by over one hundred types of papillomaviruses. More than forty of these will infect the anogenital tract of both men and women, resulting in genital warts. There is a subgroups of these viruses that can cause precancerous changes in the uterine cervix and cause uterine and cervical cancer. HPV has also been associated with the development of other anogenital cancers in women. The HPV types that infect the anogenital tract are HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18, although others may cause this infection as well. Types 6 and 11 are the most associated with benign lesions such as genital warts and mild dysplasia of the cervix, they are known as the low-risk HPV types. Then there is types 16 and 18 which are found in the majority of cervical and anogenital cancers as well as severe cases of dysplasia of the cervix.

Digestion and Disease Both Begin at Your Mouth

Did you know that disease begins at your mouth because of the choices made in your brain? I am sad to say that most Americans make very poor choices. But what else would we Americans do as we have never been educated properly in how our body works? Specifically, how we digest and assimilate nutrients from our food. The majority of Americans, their physicians, and even nutritionists have not got a clue as to what happens to food when it moves into your body.

This year I sat down to eat a 4th of July barbecue supper with some friends by the swimming pool; there were 3 women and 3 men. I am an observer of people and I couldn’t help watching them because I am a naturopath and nutritionist. I watched these people eat nutritionally poor food. If this sounds a little superior, well I am sorry but not too sorry. Sorry, that I not only observed them but now I am writing about what I saw and some of what they said. During the conversation here is what I gathered about their health and the effect of their diet. One woman (sitting across from me with her date) who was suffering from a headache revealed that she had had gastric bypass surgery for obesity. The man she was with was obese and also borderline diabetic plus he was noticing signs of chronic fatigue. The hostess and my date had had her gallbladder removed years ago and now she suffered from thyroid problems and frequent earaches and headaches. The man to my right had a headache and recurring acid reflux, he was also working on an ulcer and could feel that a kidney stone had moved to his bladder which was bothering him at the time; he was also on an antidepressant drug. The woman on my left was not too bad she was only on an antidepressant. This dinner and what I observed really caused me to pause and reflect on how these people are a reflection of the health of the United States.

What was wrong with the food? They were eating barbecued steak, white bread, corn on the cob, with some cooked vegetables and a tossed salad. Before I had cancer I would have said that that was a very excellent meal with lots of nutrition. Well now I know better, that meal was a total disaster. Here is why. The steak was cooked; once you cook any food over 118 degrees Fahrenheit you destroy all the enzymes in it, plus most nutritional value. Then am I saying you should eat meat raw? If you want to gain its full nutritional value, yes you should eat meat raw just like all carnivores and omnivores do. You prepare the meat as you would sushi. Then you will get most of the full nutritional value of the meat. Now the white bread which as common knowledge everyone knows is almost completely worthless. As for the corn on the cob and the cooked vegetables, well, as I said before “cooked food is worthless nutritionally.” Tossed salad, now we’ve got something that is loaded with nutrition, except hardly anyone ate enough to provide ample nutrition to offset the other foods they ate.

What facts do I have that back-up my statement that “the majority of the meal I described is worthless?” I have two very good examples. One, the people who sat at that table with me and their level of health which is a true reflection of the health of American’s across the USA. The other example is also very real proof. You cannot put refined or cooked food including meat into a composter because it will just rot not compost. The reason this happens is because the food is dead there is no life or nutritional value in cooked food.

Folks, this is the truth. American food is making Americans sick and no one thinks anything of it. People in America better wake up because doctors, the AMA and the pharmaceutical industry are not going to change the way you eat for you. They are going to treat you with drugs and operate on you so you can continue to eat poor food, get sicker, take more drugs and have more operations. Because this is how the average American eats, my advice is; do not allow yourself to be average.

I would like you to see how the body really works so that you can make an educated decision for yourself. Below, we are just going to follow food as it goes through the digestion tract starting at your mouth. As we make this trip I will point out some violations of digestion that cause the disease problems these people are suffering from.

We Start At The Mouth:

Food is chewed in the mouth and saliva is mixed with the food. This saliva is made up of mucus that serves as a lubricant, an alkaline electrolyte solution that moistens the food; amylase, an enzyme that initiates the digestion of starch; lingual lipase, an enzyme that begins the digestion of fat; and protease, which digests protein.

Most carbohydrates are broken down in the mouth by the process of chewing the food that hopefully had its own viable enzymes to be mixed with the enzymes mentioned above. This is an important point because it is where disease begins.

Why are Enzymes so Important:

Without enzymes we could not digest food, could not breath, could not think; enzymes sustain our life. There are hundreds of thousands of biochemical reactions that take place in our bodies that use enzymes as a catalyst. Without enzymes these reactions would move too slowly to sustain life. The food we eat contains enzymes that assist our digestive processes when we eat that particular food. When you see food decomposing (a banana turning brown) it is the work of the enzymes contained in the food plus those that are brought to the food by insects or airborne spores.

Enzymes in our bodies are divided into two groups and created by our cells: digestive enzymes and metabolic enzymes. There are three types of digestive enzymes amylase, protease and lipase. Amylase, found in saliva, pancreatic and intestinal juices; works great for digesting starches and carbohydrates and may be useful for people with gluten sensitivities. Protease, found in stomach, pancreatic and intestinal juices; helps digest proteins and may be helpful for people with food allergies. Lipase, found in stomach and pancreatic juices also enters the body via the food we eat; digests fats, helping to maintain correct gall bladder function.

Metabolic enzymes catalyze chemical reactions within the cells of the body providing us with energy production and detoxification. These enzymes run all the body’s organs, tissues and cells. They build the body from proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

The main areas we need to concern ourselves with are digestive enzymes. We produce less of these enzymes as we get older, plus cooking (over 118 degrees F), pasteurization and irradiation destroy enzymes that come to us in our foods. This is why it is so important that we eat a diet that contains 75% fruit and vegetables (the majority of these should be raw) and about 25% high protein meat, dairy, and whole grain products.

You can also find digestive enzyme complex products that contain a combination of enzymes, herbs, and probiotics that help improve the digestive processes, and can help you get full nutritional value from the food you eat.

Negative Implications of Cannabis Abuse on General and Oral Health

Cannabis, commonly known as Marijuana, is the most frequently used illicit drug in America. According to National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), there were about 15.2 million past month users in America in 2008. It also stated that about 2.2 million people used Marijuana for the first time in 2008. This averages to about 6,000 Marijuana initiates per day. Many people are getting addicted to Marijuana, ignorant of its harmful effects on health. Today, Cannabis abuse is a major concern because of its negative effects on general physical, mental and oral health.

There are three main forms of Cannabis: Marijuana, Hash and Hash oil, all of which contain the main psychoactive constituent, ‘Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol’, simply called as THC. Cannabis abuse affects almost every system of the body including the cardiovascular, respiratory, mental and oral systems. Some of the negative implications of Cannabis abuse are:

Effects on general health
When someone smokes or consumes Cannabis, THC passes from the lungs or stomach into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body.

According to National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), heart rate is increased by 20 to 100 percent shortly after smoking Marijuana. It is also estimated that Marijuana users have almost five times risk of heart attack in the first hour after smoking Marijuana. Aging people or those with cardiac vulnerabilities will be at higher risk.

Long-term smoking of Marijuana is associated with negative effects on the respiratory system. The smoke from a Cannabis cigarette has the same contents as tobacco smoke apart from harmful contents like carbon monoxide, bronchial irritants, tar and higher levels of other carcinogens than in tobacco smoke. Chronic smokers of Cannabis have increased symptoms of bronchitis, including coughing, wheezing, phlegm production, more frequent acute chest illness, and increased risk of lung infections. The symptoms of bronchitis are more common in Cannabis smokers than non-smokers of the drug. Cannabis abuse results in dysregulated growth of epithelial cells in lungs, which may lead to cancer.

Effects on mental health
Acute effects of Cannabis abuse vary greatly between individuals depending on the dosage, method of administration, environment and personality of the user. Long-term Cannabis abuse increases the risk of serious psychiatric illnesses.

THC acts upon specific sites in the brain, called cannabinoid receptors. The highest density of cannabinoid receptors are found in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thoughts, concentration, sensory and time perception etc. Obviously, Marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Marijuana abuse can increase rates of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and schizophrenia.

Effects on oral health
Cannabis users are prone to oral infections. Generally, Cannabis abusers have poorer oral health than non-users, with higher decayed, missing and filled (DMF) teeth scores, higher plaque scores and less healthy teeth gums. An important side effect of Cannabis abuse is xerostomia (dryness of the mouth caused by malfunctioning salivary glands). Cannabis smoking and chewing causes changes in the oral epithelium, termed ‘cannabis stomatitis’. Its symptoms include irritation and superficial anaesthesia of the oral membranous tissue covering internal organs. With chronic use, this may progress to neoplasia (growth of a tumor).

Cannabis use causes oral cancer
Chronic smokers of Cannabis have an increased risk of developing oral leukoplakia (thick white patches on mucous membranes of the oral cavity, including the tongue. It often occurs as a pre-cancerous growth), oral cancer and other oral infections. Oral cancer related to cannabis usually occurs on the anterior floor of the mouth and the tongue.

Cannabis consumption also has its effects on driving, affecting motor skills, reflexes, and attention. This increases accidental risks. Cannabis abuse has potential to cause problems in daily life also. Cannabis abuse impairs several important measures of life achievement including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life and career status.

The increasing prevalence of Cannabis use demands awareness of the diverse adverse effects of Cannabis abuse. People should know about these effects and take timely action in order to stay away from its negative implications.

Smoking Kills

Most people know that cancer is associated with smoking. Unfortunately, many don’t truly realize the increased risks and seriousness of this disease, let alone its preventability. Smoking is a toxin and, as such, it causes damage to every organ in the human body. Therefore, it has been connected to at least 10 different types of cancers, including pancreas, bladder, kidney, cervix, esophagus, larynx, lung, and stomach, and is responsible for approximately 30% of cancer deaths.

Lung Cancer

Unfortunately, more than 154,000 US folk died in 2002 from lung cancer, making it the number one reason for cancer deaths for both ladies and men. Frighteningly, only 12-15% of patients who obtain lung cancer are currently being cured by cancer treatments, yet more than 90 percent of all cases of lung cancer are controllable because they spring from smoking.

Proof of lung cancer include frequent attacks of bronchitis or pneumonia, coughing up blood, a moaning cough, loss or appetite, pain in the arm and chest, unexplained weight reduction, panting, hoarseness, absence of breath, and swelling of the face and arms.

Cancer of the Esophagus (Esophageal Cancer)

The esophagus is a muscly tube that’s in command of transporting food from the mouth to the belly. It occurs most often in men over 50 years of age. There are two kinds of cancer of the esophagus. One type, squamous cell cancer, is closely linked to smoking, as well as alcohol consumption.

Indicators of squamous cancer of the esophagus include discomfort or difficulty when swallowing, agony behind the breastbone, weight reduction, indigestion, heartburn, cough, and hoarseness.

Throat Cancer

Throat cancer, AKA laryngeal cancer, vocal twine cancer, or carcinoma of the glottis, occurs when cancers form on the voice box, vocal chords, or other areas of the throat.Smokers are at a larger chance of developing throat cancer, and folks who smoke and drink alcohol are at an even bigger risk. Throat cancer happens most often in adults over the age of fifty. In addition, men are ten times more sure to develop throat cancer than girls. Signs of throat cancer include a sore throat that doesn’t depart after 1 to 2 weeks, even after the utilization of antibiotics.

Hoarseness that continues for 1 to 2 weeks is another symptom. General difficulty swallowing, neck discomfort, unintended weight reduction, swelling in the neck, coughing up blood, and high pitched respiring sounds are other symptoms.

Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer generally occurs in the transitional cells of the bladder, which are the cells that line the bladder. Smoking cigarettes makes a person five times more likely to develop bladder cancer. In fact, up to 30% of women with bladder cancer and 50% of men are caused by smoking. By the nature of the cancer, bladder cancer spreads to nearby organs, including the vagina, uterus, ureters, prostate, and rectum. It is also capable of spreading to the pelvic lymph nodes, the bones, the lungs, and the liver.

Symptoms of bladder cancer include frequent urination, blood in the urine, painful urination, and urinary urgency. Those with bladder cancer may also experience bone pain or tenderness, urinary incontinence, anemia, abdominal pain, weight loss, and lethargy.

Stomach Cancer

Stomach cancer, frequently referred to as stomach carcinoma, comes in a variety of forms.The most typical form Adenocarcinoma is the most common sort of cancer inspiring the digestive system in the world. It occurs most often in men over forty. Diagnosis of stomach cancer is commonly delayed because there are not early symptoms or because sufferers mistake it for other less major disorders, for example a sense of fullness, swelling, or gas. Signs of stomach cancer include difficulty swallowing, loss of appetite, aversion, barfing, and sense of fullness, intestinal pain, breath odor, exaggerated belching, nonessential gas, weight reduction, and a general decline in health.

Kidney Cancer

Kidney cancer is also known as renal cancer, adenocarcinoma or renal cells, and hypernephroma. It affects approximately 3 in 10,000 people and 12,000 people die every year from the cancer. It is more common in men than and women, particularly affecting men over 55. A history of smoking dramatically increases the likelihood of developing kidney cancer. This cancer metastasizes, or spreads, very easily. It most often spreads to the lungs or to other organs. Sadly, nearly 1/3 of patients with kidney cancer have metastasized by the time it is diagnosed.

Symptoms of kidney cancer include abnormal urine color (such as rusty, dark, or brown), blood in the urine, back pain, weight loss, malnourished appearance, abdominal pain, enlargement of one testicle, and swelling of the abdomen.

CAUSES OF CERVICAL CANCER

Cervical cancer is a condition, in which abnormal cells grow out of control in cervix, the lower portion of uterus that opens into vagina. It can be treated if detected at an early stage. Pap test is conducted in order to detect this cancer at an early stage. 80 to 90% of cervical cancers are squamous cell cancers. In 99% of cases, cervical cancer happens due to change in cell DNA caused by a virus caused Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Almost 100 different kinds of low-risk HPVs are there that do not cause cervical cancer. HPV can be transmitted through sexual contact. It is advisable for women to go for regular Pap tests.
Smoking can cause various kinds of cancer including cervical cancer. Women experiencing high levels of stress, or women who deliver children at a very young age are more likely to develop this medical condition. Multiple pregnancies and long-term use of contraceptive pills raises the possibility of cervical cancer.
Symptoms of cervical cancer:
* Pain at the time of sex.
* Bleeding post menopause.
* Bleeding after sex.
* Bleeding after sexual intercourse.
* Pelvic pain.
* Pain while urinating.
* Abnormal and smelly vaginal discharge.
Treatments of cervical cancer include chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy or combination of any of these. What treatment has to be given is decided on the basis of patient’s state of health, age as well as the stage of cancer. Surgery is a common method of treatment if cancer is confined to the cervix area. Palliative therapy is used in the advanced stages of cancer in order to improve life quality and relieve symptoms of the same.
Smoking can cause various kinds of cancer including cervical cancer. Women experiencing high levels of stress, or women who deliver children at a very young age are more likely to develop this medical condition. Multiple pregnancies and long-term use of contraceptive pills raises the possibility of cervical cancer.

Common Health Risks to Oral Health

When it comes to oral health, the only problems most people actually know anything about are cavities and cold sores. That is because until a person has actually been diagnosed with an oral health problem, they simply don’t give their mouth much thought. The reality is that there are many oral health issues that a Dental practice in Toronto can help you with during regular dental checkups that are performed once every few months.

Thrush is a condition that most people have ever heard of, much less experienced. Most of the time this particular issue is usually only seen in patients who are either very young or old. When it is diagnosed in a patient who is neither of these two things it can indicate that the person’s immune system has been compromised. If the person is diagnosed with the thrush the dental practitioner will usually prescribe an anti-fungal medication and recommend that the person see their doctor.

It is not unheard of for thrush to be an indicator that a person has either contracted the HIV virus or has developed diabetes. Even if the person does not have either of these conditions the appearance of thrush could still indicate that the person might have a repressed immune system that could use some extra attention. One usually gets thrush when an infection known as Candida, grows out of bounds. Candida can cause thrush to little kids since their immune systems is not as strong as those of adults and it cannot fight the infection. Thrush attacks adults too in cases when their immune system is weakened by some other illness.

There comes a point in nearly everyone’s life when they discover that they have a cold sore. This is a version of the herpes virus that appears on the individual’s face. Not only is the cold sore unsightly it is also very painful. The appearance of a cold sore usually indicates that the person is either dealing with a stressful situation, or they are going through a hormonal flux. Untreated the cold sore can take up to twelve days to disappear and it could take even longer if the person remains stressed. Since cold sores are very contagious, individuals who have one should avoid doing things like kissing. A visit to their dentist means that the person can get a prescription which will help clear up the condition more rapidly.

After a person has passed their fortieth birthday, one of the things that the dental practitioner is going to be looking for are signs of oral cancer. Oral cancer is something that can effect anyone, however if the person smokes or chews tobacco there is an increased chance that they will develop oral cancer. Indicators that the dental practitioner is going to be looking for include tiny patches of skin that are discolored. They will also want to know if the person has been experience sores that do not seem to be healing, if they have started to experience unexplainable pain, or if the teeth do not feel like they fit together the way they always have in the past. The sooner the dental practitioner is able to identify the early signs of oral cancer, the greater the chances are that the cancer can be treated before it spreads.

Physician Pays Out $550,000 To Couple After Man's Metastatic Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

When people contact lawyers with regards to a cancer case, they virtually always wish to commence by talking about what the physician did wrong. But this is solely the first factor that an attorney should address when evaluating a potential case. There are two other factors that lawyers take into account. First, did the doctor’s error cause an injury to the patient. Second, is the harm sufficient that it makes sense economically to pursue a case.

It is frequently easy to establish if a doctor had information, such as a heigh PSA test result or an abnormal digital examination, which would indicate possible prostate cancer. Figuring out the delay that resulted from the doctor’s position is usually calculated by checking medical records for dates when the physician either did not follow the screening protocols or report abnormal test results, the point at which the cancer likely started to grow, and the point at which it was finally diagnosed.

What might be harder to establish is the degree of the injury to the individual. Unless the PSA surpasses at least a 10.0 (a PSa reading above a 4.0 is thought to be high) or a bone scan shows the presence of metastasis, regardless of whether the cancer has a high Gleason score, the majority of physicians would acknowledge that it is impossible to establish the stage of the cancer without performing surgery. Studying the specimens collected in the course of the surgery determines whether the cancer had already spread beyond the prostate. Even with a PSA higher than a 10.0 it is nevertheless possible that the cancer is still contained and that surgery can eliminate the cancer.

Consider a lawsuit where a physician ordered a PSA blood test on a male patient when the patient was 52 years old. The PSA level was 2.0 at that time. This level is commonly regarded to be normal. The patient’s PSA level was retested by the same doctor 2 years later. This time, however, the result indicated that his PSA level had reached a 4.2. This was marked as high in the record supplied by the lab that did the blood analysis. The man went to this doctor four more times in the two and a half years which followed. His doctor did not told him that the PSA level had been elevated and did not do additional PSA testing during that time. The man next had his PSA tested by the same doctor three years after that abnormal reading. At that time the results showed a PSA level of 5.25. The PSA level had gone up.

It was only at this point that the physician advised the patient about the previously elevated level. At this time, the doctor referred the man to a urologist. The urologist performed a biopsy which disclosed that he had cancer. During surgery his doctors discovered that the cancer had already reached beyond the prostate to the seminal vesicles and there was evidence of vascular as well as perineal invasion. Since the cancer had already began spreading beyond the prostate, the surgery lowered his PSA level but was not able to take out all the cancer. The patient thus underwent hormone therapy. His PSA levels then started to climb post-operatively. This indicates a poor prognosis so that it is unlikely that the man will live 5 years past the surgery.

The law firm that handled this claim reported that they attained a settlement in excess of $ 500,000 on behalf of the patient and his family. The patient was 60 years old at the time of the settlement. The settlement agreement left the possibility of a wrongful death lawsuit if the man does not live to the applicable statute of limitations.

As this claim illustrates, the full degree of the harm to the patient was not known until the results of the surgery were analyzed and showed that the cancer had, in fact, already begun spreading beyond the prostate. Plus it was not until the patient’s PSA levels started to rise post-operatively that the full extent of the harm was know. At that point the lawyer was in a position to be able to fully evaluate the patient’s claim. An important teaching point from this case is how the law firm made sure that the man’s wife did not lose the right to pursue a wrongful death claim if her husband died of the cancer within the time frame allowed by the Statute of Limitations Of course if there will later be a wrongful death lawsuit that may be pursued is determined by several issues including whether the man will die due to the cancer or from another cause and whether it happens during the time frame permitted by the applicable statute of limitations and statute of repose.

Beating The Breast Cancer Survival Rate

Breast cancer can strike you in the middle of your occupied lives without leaving the slightest trace, and prominent symptoms don’t appear until a late stage. In some cases, it is painless, which is the saddest part because it escapes from being detected thus, until too much harm is already caused.

Never think that you can’t get breast cancer, for anyone can get it, no matter your age or genetics, although that may play a part in it. For your own peace of mind it is better to get checked, then not to and then find out that you have breast cancer and that it has spread.

To discover and talk with someone who has successfully fought breast cancer all their lives, and are still surviving it is very heartening – whether it is someone you, yourself, or someone you know – the fight gives tremendous strength in times when making through it seems impossible. This strength will hold you up when people ridicule you, or mock at you for taking the cancer so seriously.

It’s very possible that you may not know not to fend off the disease, and the task might seem depressing superficially. There might be times when no one would understand your exact emotions and some people would take them so lightly that it would offend you. Imagine if everyone did sympathize with you, everyone would cry all the time. Stand tall and ask the doctor for regular reports on the progress of your treatment yourself. Your only body belongs to you, help it get through.

Your will is all it takes to overcome any force, even breast cancer, the survivors live to reaffirm that. You will feel scared sometimes, and that’s not a sign of weakness. Weakness will be if you feel piling up the fear and give up. Giving more stress to your already diseased body in the form of grief, fear, anger or dismay will worsen things for you. It is not a sin to be sad sometimes or to relieve yourself of worrying through angst – this is all a part of the healing process – just don’t let it get touch your core.

Do not think of your disease. Forget that you are ill. It is matters of your life, yes, therefore live every second of it, even if you’re physically ill. Revert all your energies to things you love, to things that make you happy, cultivate your gardening or reading or fashion designing hobby, be with friends you love to be, and those who make you laugh. You will discover your disease not governing you anymore, and your well-wishers will always be there to ensure your cancer gets treated, and you get healed.
